Policy Methods (Federal & State)
To help achieve this Sustainable Australia Party will:
- Support high quality Australian content across all media genres
- Properly fund the community media sector
- Better fund the ABC's regional and rural services
- Support affordable and reliable high speed internet connections
- Establish truth in political advertising laws and an independent authority to investigate complaints (also see Anti-Corruption & Governance policy)
- Empower the media watchdog to properly address media bias and misinformation
- Ban further foreign ownership and limit foreign investment to a maximum of 25 per cent of any Australian media asset
- Dismantle media monopolies and impose stricter controls on cross-media ownership
- Dismantle media company investment in, or ownership by, potentially corrupting influences including property, construction and mining companies
- Better regulate social media, including through more transparency and less anonymous commentary
