Fully incorporate rigorous and transparent science into national policy and regulation, with a key focus being the creation of a sustainable society.

Policy Actions (Federal & State)

To support this objective, Sustainable Australia Party will:

  • Better fund and support pure and applied science
  • Ensure students are science-literate through primary and secondary schools
  • Rebuild and/or adequately fund public scientific flagship institutions such as the CSIRO, the Bureau of Meteorology, Australian Space Agency and medical research institutions
  • Ensure enough quality public-sector jobs are available for science graduates and workers to stop the brain drain
  • Invest more in environmental education and the protection, maintenance and ecological restoration of the natural environment (also see Environment policy)
  • Support an ethical, locally-developed artificial intelligence (AI) framework that:
    • safeguards national security and data privacy
    • enhances jobs and communities, and
    • protects environmental sustainability including through rigorous environmental impact assessments on the energy and water consumption of AI data centres (also see Economy policy)
