October 2024 update: WA state election | New NSW councillor | Hornsby by-election | VIC registration test

Dear Members and Supporters,

Some exciting news from the West...

WA State election

The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) this week advised in writing that our application for state registration was successful! This means we will soon be added to the Register of Political Parties in WA and contest the WA state election on 8 March 2025.

Over the next four months, the main focus of the SAP National Committee will be the very realistic goal of winning a seat in the WA Upper House.

We will be in touch with WA members and supporters very soon re upcoming events and opportunities to get involved.

Introducing Cr Cameron McEwan

SAP is delighted to announce the election of Councillor Cameron McEwan to Campbelltown City Council, located in Sydney's south-western suburbs.

Congratulations Cam! You can follow Cam on Facebook.

Cam will be fighting hard to address key environmental challenges in Sydney's south-west including housing sprawl and related bushland and animal habitat destruction.

Justin Thomas for Hornsby

Still in NSW, we are currently contesting the Hornsby State by-election, represented by our candidate Justin Thomas. Election day is 19 October. For more information and ways to get involved including election day volunteering, click here:

VEC re-registration test

Meanwhile in Victoria, SAP will lodge its list of 500+ members next Wednesday 23 October, just prior to the deadline. If you are enrolled in Victoria and not a current SAP member (or member of any other party) and would like to help or find out more, click here:

As always, if you have any questions, please contact us.

Until next time!

For a fair and sustainable Australia,

Celeste

P.S. We are still looking for the right person to fill our full-time NSW Campaign Organiser position based in Crows Nest, NSW. Click here for more details.
