Wentworth by-election

Kay Dunne for Wentworth

I am a local Bondi resident with a commitment to both the natural and built environments of Wentworth. With a broad education, covering science, social sciences, humanities and creative arts, and a varied work background, I am well placed to relate to our diverse community.

After working as a professional actor in my early years, I took up a role in the NSW public service in human resources, later moving into senior roles in corporate policy and strategy. I have also worked as a scientific officer in the public hospital system, and a high school teacher. More recently, I have been writing fiction. I am also active in Toastmasters International.

As a carer for an older relative, I have a particular interest in the quality of the services available to seniors. I support positive ageing and want to see opportunities for work and valued contributions continue throughout everyone's entire life.

My values align with Sustainable Australia's. I am committed to combating climate change and protecting the marine and land environment of our Harbour and ocean shores; better planning to stop over-development and to preserve the character of our built heritage; achieving affordable housing for first home buyers and renters, and securing jobs by fostering a more diverse economy and reducing the reliance on housing construction.

To achieve these priorities it is important that Australia has a sustainable population policy. This means a population which is the right size for the carrying capacity of this arid, fragile continent, and our ability to provide a good life for all our people.

I ask for your number 1 vote in this by-election. Thank you for any support you can give.

Just what we need for Wentworth. All the best. As a lifetime local, member and high school teacher who regularly has to answer questions from my students on overpopulation, rapid increases in development.

Best wishes to Kay Dunne in Wentworth!
All roads to Wentworth now – here’s praying for as many SA members as possible to help out with letterboxing and handing out how-to-vote cards (and I’ll be among the latter for sure). Come out and show your enthusiam.

Just a thought though, with 16 candidates running preferences will very likely determine the outcome. I wonder whether people would prefer some direction as to which others we feel are more like minded. You might call it a deal but talking with others about similarities might help. I’d be interested in others’ view on this.

It’s about time we had “normal people” on our side who actually want to listen and fight for what we want.
I’m with you all the way.
Pray you’re a winner for us.

Thank you Kay for standing up as our candidate for Wentworth!

Whilst it will be a ‘Melbourne Cup’ field and the media will (as usual) focus on the big parties and names, it’s an important awareness raiser as we head into our first major state elections in VIC (24 Nov) and NSW (23 March).

Here’s a small example of the exposure we receive, which makes this exercise very worthwhile:

I ask members and supporters to get involved with letterboxing and polling place volunteering. Please use the ‘Contact Us’ link to email the party.

Hi Peter, Dick is a member of our party but isn’t a local to Wentworth. We will have a great local candidate who you can support. SA

I think dick smith could be a member of your party I think I read it on his fair go web site. he should be at lest asked if he would consider standing in this seat. to further our cause, no one could be better to shine a light, and get media for our party. a true great Australian like dick is a great fit for this endeavour.
